Blackhawk Farms 9/11

Blackhawk Farms Raceway is centered on the border between Wisconsin and Illinois in South Beloit, Illinois. It is almost 2 miles long, very flat, and very smooth. It was Sunday, the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Gunshow Nick, of Sportbike Track Time was bossman. He is very fast and a Crime Scene Investigator for the City of Chicago. At the riders meeting , as usual, he honored service personnel of all types, from Nurses and EMTs from the city to full-on Military. There were a lot of them. At 10:00 am the track went red, and the track public address, air compressors for tire warmers, and excited trackday chatter were stilled. Pretty heavy.
On the lighter side, some dude wadded his bike through the second and third corners of the first lap, first session. It looked like he would slide to a stop, but at the very end his bike rolled a couple times and his day was over. Nick supplied ample warning at the rider's meeting. Oh, yeah, and I almost got pushed off-track by someone scared straight. Don't look wher you don't want to go.
There were some fast motherfuckers there who were fun to watch and study during off-sessions. At the end of the day, Billy T and I left one session early. We were beat to fuck and amped from the adrenaline and the up-coming SteakNshake.
Attend a track day with STT.

  1. Never done a track day, but I sure do want to. We have some here in Texas and I hope to do a track day in the spring. Nice blog.
