The Bean

Downtown Chicago. It's a 110-ton elliptical sculpture that is forged of a seamless series of welded and highly polished stainless steel plates:

  2. Oh yeah, it's real. Locals call it The Bean, but officially it's been named Cloud Gate (lame). The amount of welding, grinding, sanding and polishing is astonishing. They had news broadcasts talking about all the Ironworkers they had trying to get this thing done. There is a pretty good amount of info here:
